Week 17

How far along: 17 weeks 3 days
Total weight gain: 6 pounds
Maternity clothes: Definitely rocking the maternity jeans now. Had a melt down before work when I realized I could no longer button my jeans or use the Bella band to hold them up. Glad my shirts and dresses are still fitting!
Sleep: Switching sides didn't work. I got back on my own side of the bed and have slept great since. Now if only I could convince my dog that she doesn't have to bark at everything in the middle of the night...
Best moment this week: Sitting here with the M&M group (my parent's friends) at the beach right now. I'm glad I was able to come home for the weekend, hear my mom sing and celebrate her birthday. :) Too many stories to add here, but truly had a blast.
Looking forward to: The ultra sound this week! So excited to see this little one again and find out what we will be having. I am also anxious to start feeling some movement. I've tried to be patient, but I'm ready to feel some little flutters now.
Food cravings: Pickles, sweets (I may or may not have gone back for seconds for Ruth's Chris bread pudding at the Taste of Homewood this past week) and vanilla coke.
Symptoms: lots of crazy dreams and lots of cravings
Size of baby: Sweet potato

Week 16

How far along: 16 weeks 3 days

Total weight gain: 5 pounds
Maternity clothes: still just the Bella band and the one pair of maternity jeans – all my other clothes are still fitting!
Sleep: so-so. I made Chris switch sides of the bed with me since I always ended up kneeing him in the back trying to sleep on my left side. I think I need to get used to my new “side”.
Best moment this week: This was a good week, I don’t just have one. First, finishing my living room floors. I decided to pull up my carpet and put down a paper floor. It’s the first project I’ve really done on my own and am really proud of the result. It was a great feeling to put down the last piece of quarter round down with my husband and move the living room furniture back in. Just in time for my parents to arrive for the weekend to go see Wicked! Also, Chris and I celebrated Valentine’s Day. We normally don’t do anything, but I had a gift card to Brio so we went to dinner on Sunday and I didn’t realize he had already made plans to cook us steaks on Monday night (he had to work on Tuesday) so we celebrated again with a steak dinner, complete with red roses, chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling white grape juice. Two Valentine’s Day dinners? Yes, please!
Food cravings: Still really loving pickles and vegetables.
Food aversions: nope, doing great here. Ha! It may be better if I did want to avoid certain foods – I generally just want to eat.
Symptoms: Definitely more hungry, and thirsty, too.
Looking forward to: My next ultrasound!! We get to find out what this little one will be!

Size of baby: 5 inches long – about the length of an iPhone.

Week 15

How far along: 15 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain: 3 pounds

Maternity clothes: Just the Bella band and the one pair of maternity jeans.

Sleep: not so much this week. I keep waking up in the middle of the night. I guess I’m just getting early practice. J

Best moment this week: We went to the doctor yesterday and got to hear the baby’s heart beat. We also scheduled the next appointment. I’ll get to find out if this little bean is a boy or a girl in less than 1 month!!!

Food cravings: really craving veggies this week... cucumbers, avocados, bell peppers. Still really loving pickles, too!

Symptoms: crazy vivid dreams and indigestion

Looking forward to: The Broadway show Wicked this weekend with the fam and my mom helping me pack up the junk...er...guest room to get ready for baby.

Size of baby to fruit comparison: as long as an avocado, about 4 ½ inches

Week 14

How far along: 14 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain: 2 pounds
Maternity clothes: definitely rocking the bella band. Grateful for the unusually warm weather for this time of year so I can get away with skirts and dresses.
Sleep: It was great last night! I stole my husband’s pillow. He on the other hand didn’t sleep so well. Guess I need to go buy my own.
Best moment this week:  My friend who is also expecting has an at home fetal Doppler. We were able to find and listen to the baby’s heart beat. Such a sweet sound!
Food cravings: pickles (regular and fried), chocolate milk, mac & cheese, and king cake
Food aversions: nope. I started drinking coffee again this past week. Still haven’t tried pork, but I’m ok with that.
Symptoms: still queasy around certain smells, scatter-brained, and food cravings
Looking forward to: next Dr.’s appointment on Wednesday and then date night with Chris
Size of baby to fruit comparison: naval orange
